Atlanta Beltline tour

Roger’s Red Jacket Tours brings you immersive experiences for tourists and locals alike. We showcase the Atlanta Beltline in the Old Forth Ward neighborhood through food, history and art.

Our aim to provide a soul-nurturing walking tour experience on the Atlanta Beltline. Being outdoors and smelling all the great food along the path is the reason why our guests return to experience the Beltline with us, again and again!

Every guide is a trained in the local history, so each experience is packed with personality, incredible stories and cultural anecdotes. We are available for large groups, corporate outings and private events but no tour is too small.

Three Restaurants Stops (Krog Street Market, Ponce City Market and one along the way)

EASTSIDE TRAIL

A combination of multi-use trail and linear greenspace, the Eastside Trail was the first finished section of the Atlanta BeltLine trail in the old rail corridor. The Eastside Trail, which was funded by a combination of public and private philanthropic sources, runs from the tip of Piedmont Park to Reynoldstown.

The Atlanta BeltLine is the most comprehensive transportation and economic development effort ever undertaken in the City of Atlanta and among the largest, most wide-ranging urban redevelopment programs currently underway in the United States.

It is a sustainable redevelopment project that will ultimately connect 45 in-town neighborhoods via a 22-mile loop of multi-use trails, modern streetcar, and parks – all based on railroad corridors that formerly encircled Atlanta. When completed, it will provide first and last mile connectivity for regional transportation initiatives and put Atlanta on a path to 21st century economic growth and sustainability.

The Atlanta BeltLine represents a vital expansion of the regional transit network. As part of a new modern streetcar/light rail transit network in the City of Atlanta, it will provide crucial last mile connectivity to key regional employment and activity centers.

It also expands the region’s trail and park systems to an unprecedented degree. Perhaps most importantly, it will shift regional development patterns over time, create denser urban development in the core of the city and give people better access to transit and other non-automobile oriented modes of transportation. In the long term, this will help the economic health of the region and mobility of the entire region.

Creating better connectivity through improved transit was a central element of Ryan Gravel’s thesis in 1999, and it has remained a core component of the Atlanta BeltLine ever since. New transit services play a major role in realizing the vision of linking neighborhoods, bringing people together, and taking them where they want to go. Atlanta BeltLine, Inc. continues to work collaboratively with the City of Atlanta, MARTA and other partners to advance transit on the Atlanta BeltLine and throughout the city.
